A young girl named "Angel" greeted me with a string of very fragrant flowers. Each of our team members were given flowers.

Verne and his new friends.
Most of these kids are sponsored children!

This is "Gaudi" and her two children. She gave a short testimony during the children's program. Gaudi is a professing Christian and praises God for the work of Compassion in her community.
her husband left her and her two children some time ago. With out the sponsors from Compassion, this entire family would have had little to no hope...or Jesus!
Project one / Home visit one
Mani Maran and his guardian aunt at their 10 x 6' home within a short walking distance near the Compassion Center. They pay 400 Rupees (amost $100) a month rent for their home. The home has 1 ceiling fan, 1 cot and a seperate bathroom shared by 4 other families. The aunt must carry water taken from a hand pump at the street many times a day. We prayed for the aunt. She knows of Jesus but caste pressures hold her back. Mani has a sponsor through Compassion.
Project one / Home visit two
"Sumatee" with her son "Pavanthan" near their 8x7' home also near the Compassion center. The husband is a painter. The daughter goes to the local University. Compassion sponsorship with extra money gifts from the Johnson family in the USA help this family with some extras in their home: a small wooden table, a fish tank and two parrots in a cage! Pavanthan wants to be a collector in a few years. Sumatee is a Roman Catholic (and is 'almost' a Christian. She would like to someday follow Jesus)

A modern "Rickshaw Rally"
These powered Rickshaws are everywhere here in the city. Some of our crew ventured out on Sunday...after riding in one of these...they will probably stick to walking or our mini bus!
