Tuesday's gone...but not forgotten

Rush hour traffic...
Notice there are NO dividing lines for different lanes of traffic! I'm glad we have a driver...even if he is Hindu

A staff worker at the West India Compassion Headquarters. 'Caruna' means Compassion.

There are 50 staff employees.
The employee on the far left will celebrate her 26th year with Compassion in 2006.

Verne with Silas Balraj. Silas is the country Director for Compassion's West India office.
He felt the Lord bringing him to CI so he gave up an IT job with a British Company.
Project: IN-522The children from the CMCT Student Center in Chetpet about 20 minutes from the Compassion office.

Both the boys and girls at Project: IN-522 in Chetpet wear uniforms to class. The outfits, monthly care packages, medical attention and meals are supplied to the kids by caring people around the world as sponsors with Compassion International.
Dr Colleen Redit has been in India for 41 years. She is the President and Founder of CMCT Student Center. Dr Redit felt the Lord call her into Missions work when she was still a teen in New Zealand.Ms Fobiola (third from the left) is the project coordinator.
Many children come from the slum area just around the corner from the student center.

Hyacinth and her grand-daughter Sharan.
The grandmother takes care of her two grand childern but could not have afforded any hope without the help of Compassion!

Compassion came to the aid of this family. The father, a former Hindu, has accepted Christ. The Student Center through the help of Compassion got additional medical care for the daughter. And the parents marriage was saved in the process!
House visit near Student Center in Chetpet. This 20 x 10' house has no electricity or running water. Extreme poverty is common as well as alcoholism among the men. To locals, the area is safe but for visitors like us...
we were advised to stay close to our guide and not stray from the group. The mom in the photo would like to follow Jesus but her husband is still holding on to his family's traditional Hindu ways. The son is a believer and witnesses to his family! The boy is sponsored through Compassion.

Jesse pictured here takes care of her grandchildren in this 20 x 10' house left to her by her husband. The home is in bad condition.
Pray for her and for V Manikandan: the child sponsored by Compassion.

This is actually 'home' for one family right in front of the Student Center we visited on Tuesday. Notice some chairs, a make shift bed, a Bicycle...basicly all their worldly possessions on the curb right beside a busy roadway. Just right of center a woman and her small child of maybe 3 years waves to us...
with smiles on their faces!
